Wasi Hussain Ilhan

Wasi Hussain Ilhan is a young, talented poet and writer of Khowar language. Who has made great progresses in his area of specialty in the very prime of his youth. Born in Upper Chitral, with the entire family absorbed in literature, Wasi had a genetic obsession with poetry and writing. This familial influence developed the creative instincts that have shaped his journey as a poet and writer.

Beginning of Education

Wasi started his early education at Hasnul Banna High School, Warijun, Upper Chitral. During his school days, he was inspired by poetry. He has published his first book of poetry titled “Daghio Chamut” back when he was 17 years old in the year 2013. This not only proved his talent but also led him to be the youngest poet in KPK. His work was appreciated everywhere and thus started his career in letters.

الحان ھتے ژاغہ عمرو کھولیتام۔۔

کورا کی تو مہ پیݯھی بی اسیتاو۔

After completing his basic education, Wasi pursued his intermediate studies at Government College Chitral. Though academic pressures were high and preparation for admission to the university was hard, yet he continued writing periodically. His commitment remained unabated during these busy years of life.

At Peshawar University, Wasi found a launching pad through which he could further develop and express his literary talent. The university environment exposed and availed the clarity he needed to groom himself and attract more audiences.

Wasi does not write in a particular genre. He looks into the kind of emotion that is the crest of human existence. He feels for people, tries to understand their lives and what goes on in their minds. Much of his writings is on love, misery, and despair, with the hope to bring about a change in making a difference to the attainment of alleviation. This is where Wasi stands apart as a poet.
