The rises in the uplands of Ethiopia, to the west of Tana Lake in the Woreda of Alefa, Ethiopia. It drains northwest from the highlands and flows into the Sennar plains which is a state in Sudan. While going through the plains, it reaches the Blue Nile River closed to the Sennar town.

The Dinder national park is situated in eastern Sudan. It’s a national park and is very important in the country as well as a reserve foe biosphere. It is also closed to the border of Ethiopia. In early times, it was a watershed and the home of painted hunting dog which were endangered. But due to the expanding population of humans and little attention for the conservation, it is believed that they are vanished from the area.
The Dinder Park expanded with the river Dinder. Due to which the park is named as the Dinder national park. Also a town by the name Dinder is exists there which act as an entrance for the visitors who wants to come and see the natural beauty of the place.
The park is about 249 miles or 400 kilometers to the southeast of Khartoum—the capital city. So, when the Europeans started visiting the place in early times, they populated the park heavily. This was happened in 1861 but in 1880s, when the war of Mahdist started and the issue of famine arisen, the population reduces and eventually vanished gradually.
In north side of the park there is a vegetation of thorn bush savanna. In the south part you will have a forest. Beside the banks of river you can enjoy the swampy area and gallery forest or palm.
Also, in the park, you will have many types of animals or wildlife. The animals includes hartebeest, roan antelope, Oribi, greater Kudu, dik-dik, lion, giraffe, reedbuck, bushbuck, waterbuck, gazelle, buffalo, and the Ostrich. Moreover, you can occasionally found leopard, elephant, jackal, black rhinoceros, cheetah, and hyena
You can visit the park from Khartoum through road which is about 470 kilometers or 290 miles from the Khartoum.
